…ive. Their social instincts don’t even really have a concept for companions the way we and dogs do. So when a cat trusts you, when she curls up purring in your lap or brushes against your leg to let the world know that you belong to her, or she wakes you each morning by nuzzling your face, it’s because she’s chosen, in defiance of all her instincts as a solitary hunter, to trust you and make you a part of her life. And I think that’s beautiful.
