…get out of as graciously as possible. Being monomaniacal about their plans, this proved impossible. I finally had to take my father aside and explain to him I had to go to the doctor — and why. I swear to God a look of pride came over his face. I was pretty upset and nearly in tears while telling him — but that was that.
